How to Put On Your Compression Garment
- Donning your compression
garment will be easiest early in the morning
- Remove any jewelry that
could damage the garment
- Use rubber gloves to
protect the garment, and to position the garment on your leg
- Skin should be completely
dry before donning
- Avoid rolling or bunching
the fabric
- Avoid using lotions or
ointments just before donning garment
- Apply thin layer corn
starch or powder to reduce friction
Heel Pocket Out Method
- Turn your stocking inside out by putting your hand inside the foot, grasping the heel and pulling the stocking inside out.
- Slide your foot into the stocking until your toe and heel are positioned correctly.
- Grasp the top of the stocking and pull up over your ankle and calf until in place.

Pull-On Method
- Grasp the stocking at both sides
of the top band.
- Pull onto foot and up the leg as
far as possible.
- Choose a position on the leg where
you can grasp the stocking on both sides again and pull up as far as possible.
Fold the excess fabric back down onto your leg rather than allowing it to bunch
or roll.
- Grasp the stocking at the top and
pull out the fold.
- Repeat until the heel is in place.
